Why won't search bar minimise?

[AC Question]

I was trying to watch a film with phone rotated in widescreen, but no matter what I did, the screen was still taken up at the top with the annoying search bar, so I couldn't have full screen viewing. On my old phone, if I scrolled up, it disappeared. Is there anything I can do to make it go when I don't need it? I have a Vodafone Smart 4 Turbo.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you trying to watch the video within a browser? Or are you using the YouTube app?

If the video is within a browser, then tap the video while you're watching it and look for a fullscreen toggle button. It's usually at the lower right.
