Updated to Android 5.0.1 and now notifications turn on my screen, how do I stop this?

Updated to Android 5.0.1 and now notifications turn on my screen

I have an HTC One M8 and updated to 5.0.1. Now when I receive a notification, the screen turns on which I don't appreciate. I have my phone in my pocket a lot and may accidentally do something. Before anyone suggests it, yes I have a password so it won't unlock but could emergency dial or try to unlock my phone too many times then I'm locked out for a bit. How do I turn off the feature of my screening coming on with every notification. Thanks.

Choosing what notifications to show on the lock screen

Choose the types of notifications to show or hide on the lock screen. You can also prioritize notifications from your favorite apps.
Important: The app notifications you allow or block will be applied for both the lock screen and Notifications panel.
Go to Settings, and then tap Sound & notification.
Under Notification, tap App notifications.
Tap an app, and then choose whether to block or prioritize its notifications.
Tip: If you don't want any notifications to show on your lock screen, tap Sound & notification > When device is locked > Don't show notifications at all.
