How to remove a 2nd lock screen?

I have NOT purposely installed any new apps such as DashClock. But now, after entering my unlock pattern, my phone flashes my homescreen and then goes immediately to a 2nd lockscreen. Entering my known pattern is not recognized and even hitting the 'forgot passcode' at the botton of the screen is useless. Says it does not recognize my pin or passcode and I KNOW they are correct. This happened all of a sudden. I was in a public place - so wifi may have been enabled without noticing. but otherwise, the phone was in my pocket and when I took it out to check the weather, suddenly it was doing this.

Can you longpress the lockscreen? It should shrink them down to allow you to swipe up to remove.
