what makes the screen turn green/yellow?

Welcome to Android Central! Is it permanently greenish yellow? I'd say the screen is damaged or failing.

It it's just greenish-yellow, it's probably a defective screen. If the white areas have a slight greenish-yellow tint, it's an off-color diffuser, which is allowed to be a certain amount off white, but if it has a visible color, they'll probably replace the phone.
