I was using the Facebook Messenger app when i received a message that automatically triggered my screen to light up black. I can unlock and lock the phone but the result is still the same. I can't turn it off manually, so i can only take out the battery. Each time I've put the battery back in, i find it has done nothing to solve the problem. What happened and how can i fix it if i can't see my phone screen to select any options manually?

Welcome to Android Central! When you pull the battery and the put it back, then power back on, does anything happen? Do you feel the phone vibrate, or hear any tones? If so, and if the screen remains black, then the screen probably failed. I doubt the message had anything to do with it.

If absolutely nothing happens when you try to power back on, then it might be an even worse hardware failure (like the motherboard). You could try a new battery to see if that might be the cause as well.
