I dropped my Samsung Galaxy S4 and there were two damaged spots on the edge of the screen. It still worked immediately after dropping it. An hour later the screen went black, but it still rings, you can still hear it when you swipe it, all the buttons work. Any idea what part of the phone needs replaced? Wondering if I simply replace the screen, if it would work, or do I need to replace the LCD digitizer too?

Welcome to Android Central! If swiping it still does something, then the digitizer works, at least partially. You could try connecting it to a TV using an MHL adapter, then seeing if the touchscreen registers your taps.
