I'd like to get an inexpensive 10" tablet to use as my Point Of Sale terminal and I'll be using the Square Register which requires the Square Reader. I purchased a tablet and found it wasn't compatible with the reader. Apparently the headphone jack has to support the microphone. So I'll be returning that tablet ---- but I'm finding it very difficult to glean info from the various Tablet manufacturers specs to see if they are compatible with the Square Reader...... any hints on what I should look for would be great...

    thanks

This take from the Squareup.com web site. "Square Reader plugs into the standard 3.5-mm headset jack of a smartphone or tablet. Square Reader is compatible with most Apple devices running iOS 7.0 or later and Android devices running 4.0 or later."

Would seem that any tablet that has the required 3.5mm headset jack and running Android 4.0 or better would meet your requirements.

Did you find a good solution? I found that most of the low cost android tablets don't have the mic input in the headphone jack so the square reader won't work.

    Thanks!
