My ZTE Prelude currently has Android 4.1 (Jellybean) on it, but I need to update/upgrade to a more current version to run some of my favorite apps. How do I do it?

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>About Phone>System Updates, and check for any new updates. If there aren't any (and I would guess there aren't), then you're stuck with that version, unless you want to try rooting the phone and flashing a custom ROM. Not sure if this is possible--you'll have to do a bit of research on the web about it.
