Google App - Network Error

[AC Question]

Hello, i'm getting a network error on the version 4.3.10.88581490.arm of the google app on android Jellybean 4.1.2. This is on a Goophone i6+(Chinese mediatek phone).
All other apps work, even the play store. Clearing the cache, storage or reinstalling the app does not work. Installing a much older version of google search(3.6.16.1614640.arm) does work, but thats not an ideal solution ofcourse

Have you tried installing the old version of google search and then try updating through the google play store?

Also, have you closed the app, cleared the cache and data and tried reopening?

Welcome to Android Central! Is your Google Play Services up to date? The current version is 7.0.99.

I have the same problem. If I uninstall Google app updates, it works fine until the app gets updated - then it stops again.
