Does Bluetooth tethering with an android phone cost money?

My phone network is o2 and I'm in the uk. At the moment I have data turned off on my phone because I've used this months data already. However once I have used all my data it doesn't let me use extra which is handy I suppose, so I don't get charged more money. I've just figured out how to connect my iPad to my phone using the Bluetooth tethering, but I was wondering, is this costing me money even if I have my data turned off?

Basically on my phone I went into the 'tethering and mobile hotspot' section, then checked 'Bluetooth tethering' and paired my iPad and my phone and now I can use my phone as a kind of hotspot. Does this cost me money even if my data is turned off!?

Welcome to Android Central! An easy way to tell would be to tether via Bluetooth and do a few web-based activities on the iPad. Then on the phone, go to Settings>Data Usage, and see how much data has been used by Tethering.
