Play store won't function on My Galaxy S4 Black ed.

A

AC Question

I bought this phone Dec. 2014. It was sent in for a screen repair in early April. When it came back it was working perfectly. Then I was given an update to 4.2.2. After this was done Galaxy Play would no longer function. I was asked to sign in to my google account. I did this and still I was asked for authentication. Some Google services work. It will sync contacts, Drive, Play books--but not the all important Play Store. In fact I can't get in to it at all. If I try to download via Chrome, I will get to install and then a message comes up that the app will be installed "soon". But it doesn't get installed. I tried using a different gmail account but the same thing happened.

How can I get google play back? For that matter is it possible at all to do so?

Welcome to Android Central.

Try Settings, Apps, All, scroll to Google Play Store, and select Clear Cache.

After a system software update, a Cache Partition wipe is good practice, so do that as well.
