I was given the option to update my android operating system and when it was done I had no data in my calendar. I'm not linked to my google calendar. is there any way to restore my old calendar so I can get my appointments back?

    Hello.

Not sure what happened there. An OTA update will not wipe or erase stuff on the device. It is however always recommended that you backup and/or sync your important information like Calendar and Contacts to your GMAIL account as a safety just in case.

If you didn't have your calendar sync'd to Google or some other source/cloud service then I'm afraid your calendar info maybe gone.
