Moto X vs Galaxy S5

I have a Verizon free upgrade long overdue for my current droid RAZR m and I narrowed the upgrade down to these two phones. The moto x is free and the S5 is $50. My two biggest priorities are battery life and speed. Which phone should I go with and why? Keep in mind that money is a factor; if they are very close in quality I would rather go with the moto x.

For battery, the S5 will be a better choice. Will last longer on a charge, and you'll also be able to swap out the battery if need be.
Speed, the Moto X probably wins. I haven't used the S5, but the Moto X runs near stock Android, which is noticeably lighter than TouchWiz.
As far as everything else, that's probably up to you. S5 has expandable storage, a better display and a better camera.
The Moto X gets faster updates and is (imo) easier to use because of the design
