Look in the mic hole. (Look in the manual, at the pictures of where various things are on the phone if you don't know which one is the mic hole) and look for lint, dirt, etc., blocking the hole. Use a pointed wooden toothpick very carefully to clean anything out. (Don't push hard or you could puncture the mic and destroy it.)

If there's nothing in there, the mic itself may need to be replaced.
