Why has my HTC One S sound all of sudden not working?

why has my htc one s sound all of sudden dont work?

my htc one s has lost its sound however it vibrates. when I put on earphones/headphones all of a sudden the sound works'.i don't know how this has happened or what may of caused this to happen. is there any solution to this?

Welcome to Android Central! When you say the sound suddenly works when you plug in headphones, do you mean that the sound only comes through the headphones? Does sound ever come through the main speaker? If not, the speaker may have failed.
