Why can't I install Motorola Device Manager?

My phone is connected to my MacBook Pro with a USB cable. Motorola Device Manager Installer says "an internet connection cannot be established," but my computer is definitely connected to the internet. What's the deal? Is it possible to download the Motorola Device Manager elsewhere?

Do you have USB tethering enabled, you may need to turn on developer settings. Go into the settings about device and tap the system OS line, typically 7 or 8 times. It will then unlock, while in there why not turn the animation settings down from 1.5 to .5 and speed up the transitions.
