I wish to transfer 3gb of photos to my new s6 32gb, will this affect my phone speed in the long run if my memory becomes full? i am considering upgrading to 64gb if this would keep my phone running smoothly? It would be an extra £5 per month i think Its worth it?

Welcome to Android Central! I would put the photos on a microSD card--that's what the card is best for, storing media. But I would also make sure those photos are backed up, either on your computer's hard drive or in the cloud. SD cards are a bit notorious for getting corrupt, especially on Samsung devices.
