    Fitted a new lcd screen to my s5 and then it started struggling for mobile data signal so I tried to take it apart to look for a loose connection and ice broken the ribbon wire on the screen. can the wire be repaired?

    Welcome to Android Central.

    I believe that they are replaceable. How much skill and what specialist tools would be required, I don't know, but I should imagine it would be a) a lot of skill and b) some specialist tools.

    "Broken" as in torn out of the screen, no.

    Broken as in torn out of the connector, yes, but you'll need a pin puller for the connector and soldering equipment.

    Broken as in the middle of the cable somewhere, yes - you slip a piece of shrink tubing over one end of each broken wire, add enough wire from another cable so you don't shorten the cable, solder in the extra length of wire, slide the tubing over the joint and heat it to shrink it into place and insulate the solder joints.
