How do I get rid of lock screen lock before I can enter my pattern?

How do I get rid of the annoying little lock screen lock that I have to drag UP before I can enter my lock screen pattern? IT is super annoying to do both. I want to be able to turn on my lock screen and then enter my pattern immediately.

You did not note what device you have, but it should be adjustable in Settings and then Security.
