    wanted to wipe out cache partition so pushed power volume up and home button but released before getting vibration. instead of the recovery screen found myself in a screen that shows product name, current binary, system status, etc.. now it's teeling me " downloading, do not turn off target". Help (Note 4)

    Welcome to Android Central! That's Download Mode, which is used if you want to install a new ROM. As long as you're not connected to anything and actually installing a file, you can force a power down from there by pressing and holding the power button for 10-15 seconds. Then make sure you're following these steps to wipe the cache: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-14686
