When using my Samsung Galaxy s5 a red border flashes up whenever I touch the screen, does anyone know why this is?

Have you changed anything in the developer options? There are a couple of options that could do that. If you didn't open these options try removing your battery and back on again after a minute or so.

It mostly happens when you enable any monitoring options under "Developer Options" in your settings. Go to Settings >> More >> Developer Options >> Scroll down all way and see if you enabled any monitoring activity. Eg see 'Strict Mode' * Make screens flash when apps perform long operation on main thread. Uncheck it.
