How do I get rid of lock screen lock before I can enter my pattern? HTC ONE M8

HTC ONE M8 How do I get rid of the annoying little lock screen lock that I have to drag UP before I can enter my lock screen pattern? IT is super annoying to do both. I want to be able to turn on my lock screen and then enter my pattern immediately.
There is no setting for this. Anyone know a trick???

There are a lot of lock screen apps in the Play Store, most of them free. Try a few. (I use Tasker to manage things, so the screen isn't locked when I'm in a safe place.)
