Setting Backup Problems

[AC Question]

I've been trying to set my Motorola Razr M to backup my contacts to my gmail account but am having problems. When I tell my phone to sync with gmail it tells me it was successful and I have the gmail account linked with the phone but nothing I've supposedly backed up appears on my gmail account. I've looked at numerous how to guides and followed the steps but to no avail. Does anyone know why this might be happening and how to fix it?

Have you tried a simple Power Off and Restart?

Yes, I restart my phone regularly (usually once a day) and it has not changed anything.
