mm-qcamera-daemon process

[AC Question]

Hi All, I've Samsung s5 smartphone with android 5.0 . In this period , often ,appears a process ,mm-qcamera-daemon, that consumes a lot of battery !!!! How can do to risolve this problem ? Thanks

The quick-fix is to just reboot the phone.

The bug has been around for a bit and has yet to be fixed I believe. But the issue is most often caused by a third party application accessing the camera (like Instagram, etc). This opens up the camera sub-system (which mm-qcamera-daemon is part of). Now, from the outside looking in, it appears that these third party applications are not picking up their toys after they are done playing, so the camera sub-system remains open... and your camera is one of the more process-intensive functions, so the end result is a rather voracious wakelock that will kill your battery fairly quickly.

I think some of the onus is on these 3rd parties to write better code... but I may be wrong.. But I haven't really heard of many people who've had this pop up when using their main camera apps.
