Welcome to Android Central! Google Play Services is an integral part of any Android phone that uses any kind of Google apps, and is a way for Google to update and add features that before would have to be included in a system update. See this article for a more detailed explanation: Google Play Services gives control of Android back to Google | Android Central.

Go to the Google Play Services page on the Play Store in your computer browser: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...roid.gms&hl=en. Click Installed, then see if your device is listed as eligible to receive an update. If so, select it and click the Install button. It should update shortly on the device.
