Got a new phone (S6) and when starting up I get a prompt to setup a Samsung Account. I canceled it because I don't want one... but what the heck does it do? Is there any benefit to creating one?

It's just a cloud account for syncing Samsung specific ware, like Contacts, Internet Browser, Samsung Calendar and device specific apps like S-Notes, Scrapbook (Note series) etc. So it's not intrusive or data gathering like Google, imv.
Oh, and it now syncs some Samsung apps.
