I moved old photos from my desktop to my new droid turbo into a picture folder in the internal memory. I can not access them from my phone. How can I move some of them to my gallery?

Welcome to Android Central! Photos in any folder should automatically be detected by the system and displayed in the Gallery. The exception is if that folder has a ".nomedia" file in it. Use a file manager app like ES File Explorer to look in the folder where you copied the photos. First, can you see the photos there? Second, do you see any ".nomedia" files?

Third, copying doesn't trigger the media scanner. Did you restart the phone after you did the copy? (Or you can use Rescan Media to trigger a media rescan.)
