why can i turn my phone on but its a black screen and cant see nothing

My phone has always worked fine,but today the screen have gone black and I can't see nothing but my phone is on..I can ring my fone but can't see who's calling help

The screen could need replacing....or, with any luck, it will just be a loose connection, easily fixed.
