Gear watch stopped connecting automatically to Note 4 phone

[AC Question]

I updated the OS on the phone and since then the watch and the phone seem to have gone senile. They know each other when they wake up (power up) but the watch and the phone don't stay connected automatically like they used to prior to the upgrade. I have to manually re-connect the Gear watch to the phone then it works fine...for at least a few hours. Is there a Gear update that I missed?
