When the phone is in my purse it automatically answers or if a call comes in while I am talking, it answers the all automatically.

Welcome to Android Central! The proximity sensor would actually prevent that by detecting that the phone is up to your ear during a call and therefore turning the screen off--this prevents your face from pressing any onscreen buttons. So if anything, your proximity sensor might be faulty, if the screen is staying on and your ear or face is pressing a button.

Check to see if the Auto Answer option is turned on. This is only supposed to be when the phone is connected to a handsfree car kit, but maybe it's malfunctioning: LG Tribute User Guide
