I have the Samsung Galaxy S5 and I don't have that much downloaded to it. I go into storage and look at everything and see what is taking up my storage and its apps and other things that came on the phone. I have moved everything to my sd card that will go, but there is alot of things that I am not allowed to move. I keep having insufficient storage to update some apps. What good does it do to have an external sd card if I can't hardly use it for apps and other features on the phone? Is there something I am missing? Is there any other things I can do?

My photos automatically save to the SD. At least if my phone dies, i still have them. I also do all my backups to the SD. If you are struggling for space, you could try clearing the cached data a little more frequently. Since you are on a Samsung, you could try to free some additional space by deleting your dumpstate/logcat. In your dialer, type *#9900# and hit the "delete dumpstate/logcat" button and then exit. Sometimes this can free up a few hundred Mb. Hope this helps
