Even thought my settings for ringtone etc are set, there is no sound, what causes that?

I have set my all of my phone sounds on, but there are no sounds when I receive a text or a phone call. I have checked settings they are all to the max as for sound. But When I tap ringtone, I hear the sound.

Make sure that your ringtone and notification volumes are up. There are 4 (or 3, depending on the ROM) volume settings, and if media volume is all the way up but the others are down you'll hear music and videos but not ringtones or notifications. Turn the volume up when you're on your home page - that should be the ringtone volume. Settings/Device/Sound/Volume will give you all the settings on one screen.
