why isn't my phone switching on, s3 mini

[AC Question]

when pressed the power button, the Samsung sign shows, as if its loading and it just carries on like that. I've tried taking out my battery and reinserting it but it continues to do the same thing. I didn't know what to do, so I decided to reset it with the power + home + volume up, now its showing the android logo and says "Downloading... Do not turn off target !!" for the past half hour. WHAT DO I DO?!

Welcome to Android Central! You entered Download Mode instead of Recovery Mode. As long as you're not connected to the computer, the phone isn't actually downloading anything. Press and hold Power for about 15 seconds to force a power off (or pull the battery for 10 seconds), then power back on again.
