can't connect to data or text and call in most areas

I have a Samsung galaxy note 4 i just got about a month ago , I started with t mobile but I couldn't acess my data and couldn't make calls 90% of the time ( same phone , was doing prepaid) and I switched to AT&T and same thing. I also took the Sim and put in other phone and it worked, what would be wrong with the phone where that happens?
