Why doesn't my Droid Maxx connect to my PC?

My husband has the exact same phone and his prompts a window to pop open on the PC immediately when plugged in via USB.

Welcome to Android Central! When you plug in via USB, does a USB connection notification appear in the notification bar? If so, swipe down the panel and tap the notification--make sure MTP is selected.

If you don't get that notification, then try a different USB cable. If different cables don't work, then there might be a problem with the microUSB port. Make sure there isn't any debris lodged in there. If it looks clean, you might have to bring it to a repair shop to replace the port.
