Google play opens randomly

I have a Motorola Turbo and at random times, when I open an app or even the google search browser, my phone redirects me to Google play opened to a specific app. It usually seems to happen every so many hours but always when my alarm goes off in the morning. I have to back out of it so I can silence my alarm. I ran virus/malware software with none found, removed any apps I had installed recently and even did a factory reset. The reset seemed to work for a few days and then it started again. Very frustrating! Any suggestions?

Welcome to Android Central! It's adware of some sort. After the factory reset, did you reinstall any apps? Or did any apps reinstall automatically? Do another factory reset, but this time after you finish the Setup Wizard, go immediately to Google Play Store and stop any apps that might be reinstalling automatically. Now slowly reinstall apps one by one, watching out for this behavior to recur.
