I need to look at how my data allowance is being spent by my device. I was wondering, how to see how much has been uploaded and how much has been downloaded, as the counter in Settings seems to give a lumped sum of the two.

    Thanks!

Welcome to Android Central! I'm curious--why do you need to know the breakdown of upload vs download? Apps are often communicating in a two-way fashion, so uploading data doesn't necessarily mean uploading of discrete files, like backing up photos--it could also be periodic reporting of location and other bits of data.

Hi, I'm the OP, and thanks for getting in touch. I had a massive spike in data usage of several dozen megs a few days ago, and I wanted to see if this was due to my phone updating itself (i.e. downloading a lot of stuff), or if it was spyware or some backup service.

I couldn't find any apps or services that will break down the upload/download in my brief research of the subject, sorry.
