LG f60 light come up for a few seconds on it's own then go out, when phone just sitting idle ?

LG F60 the screen light comes up for a few seconds on it's own then goes out, when phone just sitting idle ? It will do this when I get new text messages or email, but when there is none it makes me think something may be wrong with my phone.

Welcome to Android Central! Sorry, can you clarify--is the screen turning on briefly only when you get a new email or text, or does it also happen without any new emails or texts?
