My 2 1/2 year old Samsung Rugby phone suddenly crashed and does not recognize any of my icons/ apps, nor will it allow me to open any apps. Phone repeatedly gives me a message stating, TW Launcher not responding/
foreclosure, which forces the end, before I even begin using an app.

Welcome to Android Central! Try booting into Safe Mode, which temporarily disables all 3rd party apps. How Do I Start My Samsung RUGBY™ Smart (SGH-i847) Mobile Device In Safe Mode? : AT&T Cell Phones | Samsung

If the problem disappears in Safe Mode, then something you installed is causing the problem. You may have to uninstall apps one by one until the problem disappears. If the problem persists in Safe Mode, then it's more likely to be a hardware or firmware problem. One thing to try in this situation would be to remove the SD card, in case it's corrupt and causing instability.
