Why do some of my contact names show in messages?

AC Question

Hello,

First time Android user here. I have been using my Galaxy S6 for a month now, and I had synced my contacts with my gmail account and migrated all my contacts from my previous iPhone.

I was using both the Mail and Gmail apps, but decided I didn't like the Mail as it was syncing too often and using up too much battery for my liking, so I deleted the email accounts set up within the app.

After this occurred, only some of the names in my Messages app appeared, while the rest were listed as phone numbers only. I tried ensuring my Gmail contacts were included and synced, as well as any other email accounts I had set up.

When I go to my google accounts, I have two set up. One says that "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." This is only for the contacts for one of my Gmail accounts.

Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks!

So it appears that my migrated contacts are no longer on my phone. The Gmail contacts are, but the migrated ones do not sync, even after retrying multiple times...
The strangest part is that they randomly disappeared...
