Which 7"-8" tablets are likely to be able to be continuingly updated to future versions of Android?

Given the evolution in the Android OS, which 7"-8" tablets have greater probability of receiving ongoing OS updates? I'd like to include updates whether provided by the OEM or third-party ROM, so long as the device's functionality is not compromised, and balancing other desirable factors, such as ratio of power to price, LTE, allowance of memory cards, and breadth of the developer and user bases.

Welcome to Android Central! Although the 2013 Nexus 7 will come to the end of its support lifecycle soon, I'm sure there will continue to be thriving community of ROM developers for it. And, of course, you should still be able to manually flash new Android updates, if they're not being pushed over the air.

The Nvidia Shield might also be a good choice.
