Why can't I attach more than one picture to a text message?

AC Question

My husband and I got Galaxy S6 phones a little over a month ago and are having trouble attaching multiple pictures to texts. Sometimes we can send 2, but sometimes we can only send one. If we try to add more than one picture, we get an error message: "UNABLE TO ATTACH FILE. The selected file exceeds the maximum file size. Try sending this file via Email, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or another method."

Is there any fix for this?

Welcome to Android Central! The maximum total filesize that can be sent in an MMS message is around 1 MB (it varies a little with carrier), so if the total size of the pictures you want to send exceeds that limit, you can't do it. Presumably, the messaging app is compressing the picture to begin with, but even so, you can exceed 1 MB pretty easily. Send each photo in its own MMS message. Or upload all of your pics to a cloud service and share the link privately so that they can see the photos full size.
