im pretty sure my brother killed my galaxy rush

My brother handed me back my phone that says 'Encryption failed' followed by "unable to complete encryption due to interruption..(He said it came unplugged during encryption) and to preform factory reset. Thats all I have been able to do.because it either takes me to a recovery menu or loops me back to the encryption message.I think he messed around in there too trying to fix it.I have but have never used an 8G sd card. Please help my brother survive til morning and help me fix my phone. Also you should know my Surface RT is not compatible so if there is any way of fixing this problem via an S3 that'd be cool. Oh! And also based on the last question, I know 0-1% of what y'all speak of in these forums so you will have to explain it to me like I'm a 6 year old. I would appreciate any help at all.
