I have a nexus 5 and recently it started not responding when I push the power button to wake it up, not everytime, but once in a while. I think it has something to do with the accelerometer because it will happen sometimes after phone calls and often after being in my pocket for long periods of time.

When it happens, I can tell that it's still on because the screen is not true black and the volume buttons still work. I even managed to answer a call while the phone was in this state.

The only way to fix it has been to hold the volume down key and the power button down to do a hard restart.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Have you tried taking out the battery for a little while and then putting it back in?
