Do texts really take an hour to be received?

On my RazrM droid, the text details show that received texts take an hour between sent and received, but I suspect this isn't true. Could this be something that is particular to the Verizon system?

Have you talked to Verizon to see if there is some known network issue? Even my Verizon friends I text with aren't having this issue texting back and forth with me. There could be a known, or unknown issue for Verizon in your area.
