Running Android 5.1.1 on my LG Nexus 5.

This is really driving me nuts. There's a couple of images I downloaded from either Gmail or Imgur, they were saved in my Downloads folder, and all of a sudden they are gone. Disappeared. Missing. Literally nowhere to be found.

Naturally I started using a more classic gallery app when Google changed that horrific image viewing app to ignore any kind of folder structure, but this seems kind of uncalled for. Keep your fingers off my photo's, [language redacted by Mod] robot >.<

Why the hell does Android decide to delete my downloaded pictures?

Welcome to Android Central! When you say they disappear from the Downloads folder, are you only using the Downloads "app"? Have you tried looking with a file manager app like Total Commander or X-Plore, navigating to the /storage/sdcard0/Download directory? When certain apps download a file, they don't show up in the Downloads "app," but do appear in the directory when viewed by a file manager. I'm not sure why, but I think it depends on whether or not the app used the Download Manager to perform the download.
