Why do I have only one bar and can no longer receive calls in my house

I never had this problem with my old phones. Now I have a new lg ultimate 2 android and it will not ring inside my house. The phone still receives the calls and takes messages, but there is only one bar and no reception.

What kind of phones did you have before? Have you tried taking it back to your carrier and having it swapped for a different one? That one you have could be defective.
