Can/does Google scan emails from OTHER accounts than Gmail?

If i use whatever the built-in email app is in my Android device but NOT with a Gmail inbox, does Google have access to the contents of these mails, address book etc?

No, probably not incoming mail. It doesn't go through Google's servers. But depending on how you have email setup, you may be using Google's servers for outgoing mail.

If you save contacts to your Google account (as you should) of course Google had access to those. I don't see how Google could access other address books.

But so what? Google is the least of your worries. Year can bet that your email is scanned by someone - 3-letter government agencies and God knows who else. Privacy is self-delusion in 2015. I made my feelings about this known previously here:
