How do I restore my app shortcuts?

I accidentally started my phone in safe mode when I put it in a cup holder. Now even though I turned safe mode off all of the shortcuts to my apps are gone off the home screen. How do I add the shortcuts back to my home screen?

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Are you using the stock launcher, or a 3rd party one? Your usual app shortcuts shouldn't have disappeared--it didn't do a factory reset, did it?

If for some reason your homescreen setup got erased, then you'll just have to set up the homescreens again. Bring up the App Drawer, find the shortcuts you want to place, long press them, and drag and drop them to the homescreen.
