Do I need to download an app to connect my selfie stick to my Kyocera hydro icon phone or what can I do since its not working

Welcome to Android Central! Is it the type that plugs into the headphone jack, or is it Bluetooth? You usually have to open the Camera app, go to its settings, and make sure the Volume button is set to be the shutter release. If your phone doesn't have this option, then the selfie stick might not be compatible.
